Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Dev Hit by Layoffs
Layoffs have hit Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City developer Slant Six Games. According to a company statement, the layoffs are “temporary” as it seeks new projects, and the plan is to re-hire as many employees as possible once that happens.
Slant Six confirmed that layoffs, providing the following statement to GI.biz:
“This necessary measure has been taken to reduce the size of our team and to decrease interim operating costs while we continue to negotiate new business. Temporary layoffs provide us with a time period to keep everyone’s employment position open with full benefits. The intention is to reinstate all of the people affected when new projects or funding has been secured.”
GI reports that Slant Six had 60 employees before the layoffs, but the exact number of employees let go hasn’t been revealed. In addition, British Columbia law states that “those who are laid off will retain their benefits and collect employment insurance for 13 weeks, after which time the termination of their employment will become permanent if they have not yet been rehired.”
