Final Fantasy XIV’s journey of self re-discovery will conclude this summer. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will go live within the next few months, Square Enix announced today, with the next phase of closed beta tests planned for June–including the long-delayed PlayStation 3 client.

The game’s MMORPG predecessor, Final Fantasy XI, wasn’t for everyone, but it attracted a loyal fanbase it retains to this day. FF XIV was so half-baked that Square Enix publicly apologized and pulled it offline in November.

Since then, developers and fans alike have pinned their unfulfilled hopes on A Realm Reborn. If you want to get back in early–while doing your part to make sure it’s less awful this time–Square Enix is calling for more beta testers.
