Deadpool Developer High Moon Studios Suffers Layoffs
Activision has let go of 40 developers at High Moon Studios, the developer of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron and the upcoming Deadpool, Kotaku reports.
In a statement to IGN, an Activision representative stated:
“Activision Publishing consistently works to align its costs with its revenues – this is an ongoing process. With the completion of development on Deadpool, we are taking a reduction in staff at High Moon Studios to better align our development talent against our slate. Approximately, 40 full-time employees will be impacted globally. We are offering those employees who are impacted outplacement counseling services.”
Last month, Activision laid off numerous Treyarch employees, and its recent Minneapolis publishing division’s layoffs indicated a clear move away from licensed games.
IGN reached out to Activision for additional context and will update this story when the publisher has more to say.
IGN wishes the best of luck to anyone affected by today’s news.
