DayZ: Console Port is Almost Certain
There’s a very good chance that the standalone DayZ game will be heading to consoles. That is, if they don’t “f**k up” the PC release.
While there’s currently nothing in the works, DayZ creator Dean ‘Rocket’ Hall said that bringing the game to consoles was a real possibility in an interview he gave to The Escapist.
“Certainly I think if we don’t, for want of a better word ‘fuck up,’ the PC release then I would say a console port is almost certain,” Hall said. “I know a lot of people get really hot and bothered about it. Like, I’m not a console gamer, I’m a PC gamer, but I don’t think it necessarily has to hurt things.”
So does that mean current-gen or next-gen platforms? Hall wouldn’t be drawn, but he did reveal that PlayStation seemed a likely destination. ”It appears to be the kind of game that Sony are interested in, I think we just have to wait and see,” he said. “We’ve talked and met with Sony, and they’re very – you know, they’re obviously interested.”
There is currently no release date for the standalone PC version of DayZ.
