Madden NFL 13: Top 10 Defensive Players revealed

MADDEN NFL 13 on Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U Image / Screenshot

It’s the final week of Madden NFL 13 player overall reveals and today we are taking a look at the top 10 defensive players. Similar to the past three weeks, EA has revealed the top 10 players and will reveal all the defensive player overalls on Friday.

This is your last week to determine player attributes. This week you can vote on the Madden NFL 13 Facebook page to determine which defensive players best possess the following attributes: Speed, Tackling, Hit Power, and Man Coverage.

So let’s take a look at the top 10 defensive players.

    1. Darrelle Revis (New York Jets Cornerback) – 99 overall
    2. Demarcus Ware (Dallas Cowboys OLB) – 99 overall
    3. Patrick Willis (San Francisco 49ers MLB) – 98 overall
    4. Jared Allen (Minnesota Vikings Defensive End) – 98 overall
    5. Justin Smith (San Francisco 49ers Defensive End) – 98 overall
    6. Julius Peppers (Chicago Bears Defensive End) – 97 overall
    7. Haloti Ngata (Baltimore Ravens Defensive Lineman) – 97 overall
    8. Troy Polamalu (Pittsburgh Steelers Strong Safety) – 97 overall
    9. Ed Reed (Baltimore Ravens Free Safety) – 97 overall
    10. Mario Williams (Buffalo Bills Defensive End) – 97 overall

Overall, I can’t say I’m too shocked by any of the top 10 defensive players. It’s the usual high profile stars, but I do think some of the players included in the list are there by name alone. While there is some up-and-coming stars, I can’t help but feel some players are there based on their past history.

Do you feel the top 10 were deserving of their spots or did any defensive players get shafted?

Mutant Mudds 2 confirmed by creator Jools Watsham

    Mutant Mudds Image

We kind of already knew that there would be a Mutant Mudds 2. Renegade Kid's Jools Watsham had previously stated that a sequel would happen, and he's recently confirmed it on his Twitter account.

The first game received quite a bit of praise when it launched on the 3DS eShop. It was then ported to the PC where it was once again on the receiving end of some love. Now it's even on its way to the Wii U eShop, where it'll get some enticing exclusive content.

No word on what platforms Mutant Mudds 2 will be available on at the moment. A release date is also up in the air. Looks like we'll have to wait until after the launch of Mutant Mudds Deluxe on the Wii U to get some juicy new info on the sequel.

Sex and the City star promotes Super Mario 3D Land

Kim Cattrall - Super Mario 3D Land

Former Sex and the City actress Kim Cattrall — known as the sexually adventurous Samantha on the show — talks about her private sessions with Mario in this spicy Super Mario 3D Land ad, shown in the UK.

The ad seems to be marketed toward an audience of on-the-go, upscale women who can always fit in time for one more man — a certain fashionable Italian. I don't know who those women are, but they apparently like playing video games in bed in their lingerie.

Seems as though Square-Enix is really running out of ideas for their Kingdom Hearts series. I mean, it’s one thing to pull from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, a movie nobody lies. But to have Jeff Bridges from Tron interacting with bright-eyed anime characters? We’re confused.

Check out the nonsense in the above trailer. What do you think?

Square Enix simplifies Dragon Quest 7′s shards

      Dragon Quest 7

Square Enix is making Dragon Quest 7 a little easier on the 3DS.

One change is having visible enemies instead of random encounters, but another makes shards easier to find. A new radar will alert players if a shard is close-by.

Shards enable players to access new worlds. Restoring them to their respective pedestals transports the party to a new location and, essentially, a new quest. Players have a lot to find, so radar should make it easier.

A new character also provides hints about their locations.

The Dragon Quest 7 remake is due out February 7 in Japan.

3DS users’ online connectivity is higher than ever

More users than ever before are connecting their 3DSs to the Internet, revealed Nintendo.

Worldwide connectivity has reached 72 percent worldwide. That's a 10 percent increase from last year.

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata reported that the Internet-connection ratio is particularly high in the U.S. and Japan, where it's rising beyond 80 percent. Rates are lower in Europe and Australia.

The Nintendo Direct videos are largely responsible for pulling users online in Japan, at least. Iwata said that connecting to the 3DS eShop is the most popular way for Japanese users to watch the content after it's aired, which came as a surprise to the company.

Users can also connect to the eShop to download games, which accounts for three to 10 percent of total sales worldwide.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf marks Nintendo's first game where it's actively promoting the downloadable version of the game. The company feels it's the type of game that players would want to have access to at all times. Also, by raising awareness of one download game, Nintendo can make people more aware of others in general.

Nintendo is also releasing a special Animal Crossing: New Leaf 3DS bundle in Japan this fall, which includes a download copy of the game loaded on to the SD card. The company is planning similar bundles for New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

Is Nintendo trolling us with deliberately bad Virtual Console games?

      Nintendo 3DS XL Image

Listen, I know, there are tons of emulators I can find easily on the internet that will allow me to play my favorite Game Boy game for the price of free. Hell, there are flash websites now that do the same thing without the need to download anything. Call my old fashioned, but I like owning a piece of virtual software.

I was excited when Nintendo unveiled their plans for the 3DS Virtual Console, and how they'll bring lots of Nintendo classics back on the 3DS. While I definitely appreciate the likes of Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, Metroid II: Return of Samus, Kirby's Dreamlandand hell, even the classic Tetris, I have to say that the majority of these Virtual Console games are pretty crappy.

Alleyway, Radar Mission, Tennis, Golf, Side Pocket, Catrap, Lock 'n' Chase, Mole Mania… I can't speak for gamers everywhere but I know for a fact there are a ton more iconic games on the Game Boy aside from these abominations. What's worse, today we get another craptastic release: Mario's Picross, because everyone fondly remembers that game right?

Look Nintendo, I want to give you my money, I swear I do, just give me some better Virtual Console games on the go! I'm not asking for much, maybe some Battletoads, Burai Fighter Deluxe, Donkey Kong Land 1, 2 and 3, Ducktales, hell even Ninja Gaiden Shadow, I like the challenge. Let me relive these classics all over again and actually have me pay for them.
